Sopuck Supports Pallister’s Commitment to end Night Hunting in Manitoba

Brandon, MB – Robert Sopuck, Member of Parliament for Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa, speaking from the Manitoba Wildlife Federation Annual General Meeting on Saturday endorsed the commitment by Brian Pallister to end night hunting in Manitoba.

The Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party, Brian Pallister announced on Friday that they will work in partnership with indigenous people, non-indigenous people and other stakeholders to put an end to night hunting for all Manitobans.

“This is both a conservation issue and a safety issue,” commented Sopuck “I am glad Brian Pallister and the PC caucus have made the commitment to end night hunting.”

Sopuck attended the Manitoba Wildlife Federation meetings where the organization demonstrated the serious safety hazard that night spotlighting presents to the public, livestock and property.

“We have seen a decline in many of our big game species in recent years in some regions of our province and night hunting is a major contributing factor,” said Sopuck “I commend Brian Pallister and the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives for committing to end this dangerous practice.”

Robert Sopuck is the Official Opposition Critic for Conservation, Wildlife and Parks Canada and the Vice-Chair of the Conservative Hunting and Angling Caucus. As a biologist he has spent his entire career on the conservation of fish, wildlife and our natural resources.
