Sopuck upset Manitoba’s taxpayers are paying for Trudeau’s nannies

Ottawa, ON - Robert Sopuck, Member of Parliament for Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa, is disappointed that the new Prime Minister would abuse his position by hiring not one but two nannies on the taxpayers’ dime in contradiction to his previous statements during the election campaign.

“After promising to cut income splitting for families and the Universal Child Care Benefit that benefits middle class families, the new Prime Minister is dipping into taxpayer’s pockets to help him pay someone else to raise his children,” said Sopuck. “Prime Minister Trudeau is wealthy enough and will earn enough money the next four years as Prime Minister that he does not need the hard-earned tax dollars of working-class Canadians to pay for his personal child care.”

The Prime Minister’s spokesperson Kate Purchase defended the hiring of the two nannies and did not acknowledge the clear contradiction with Trudeau’s position that people like him do not need taxpayer help to provide care for their children.

“Mr. Trudeau should end this hypocrisy and offer to pay for his children’s own care out of his own pocket,” said Sopuck “It is working class and middle class Canadians that deserve a break and not the Prime Minister.”
